The
multifaceted musician Jihae put on a free show yesterday for those with
the foresight to RSVP quickly. I was probably one of the first to get
my name on the list.
I've been a fan of hers since her last album, 2010's "Fire Burning Rain". It proved her an artist capable of exploring a mix of genres while delivering consistently mesmerizing vocals. This year she's set to release a new album, "Illusion of You". Here's the new video for the title track.

Joining me at Chez Andre, the subterranean lounge in the basement of the East Village's Standard Hotel, were a
hip crowd of fashion industry folks and European tourists. When Jihae
finally took the stage after a short delay, she didn't disappoint.
Joined by a full band, including a violinist, her set lasted a little
over an hour and covered a lot of ground. She did it all from belting
out while the band wailed to strumming a guitar alone and singing the
first song she ever wrote. Eavesdropping, I overheard many around me
proclaiming, "She's amazing!" Couldn't agree more. Be on the lookout
for "Illusion of You".
Scroll down for some photos and
listen to her last album on the bottom.
